Its Alive! for Wind-Up Records

After incubating for close to a year, Its Alive was finally ready for the push. Their label (Wind-Up Records) contacted me in January for a new press shoot. The photos would be used for their myspace, itunes single, and other various posters and advertisements.

I’m a big fan of their music and wanted to make sure that we created something that really captured the feel and style of the band. We went to this old barn on a friend’s property. The inside has a very horror-movie feel to it. The wood is stained and rotten in places along with creepy sheets and cloths that hang from the ceiling. Needless to say, it’s a freaky place to hang out but really cool nonetheless.

This is my favorite photograph from the shoot. Although, I don’t think the label will be using it for anything, I like it the most. Their positioning is slightly awkward which gives each member a certain separation from the band. Although they write and create music as a whole, each individual brings something different to what you hear. Their expressions are also different which adds to the dynamic of this band portrait.

Behind the scenes by James Lano

While the sun was setting, we left the inside of the barn to make use of the soft, natural light outside. I was aiming to make each individual separate in their own way, but compliment each other at the same time. Below is Zach Webb (Left, Vocalist) and Clay Haywood (Right, Guitarist). Both are extremely talented musicians and performers.

A big hand goes out to Max Schwartz and my buddy James Lano for helping me out that day. Thanks to James for these behind the scenes photos as well. Always enjoy seeing these!

I’ve got a lot more to post about in the very near future. So please keep an ear out. Until then, check out www.theundesigned.com to read up on some more projects in creation. Its a movement. Enjoy!
